Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
So is it possible for a young boy living in a mud hut in extreme poverty in Kenya to realize his dream to attend a university? Well, here’s Ronald’s story:
It all began about 4 years ago. A young boy in Kenya, Ronald Emmanuel Wanjala, graduated from the Primary System of Education with very high marks on his National Exams. He had so much potential. But there was a problem, a seemingly impossible one to overcome. High school in Kenya is not free. At that time the tuition was $1,000/year, which quickly went up to $1,300/year. And of course there were other expenses like books, clothes, a computer, etc. Ronald and his family could not afford this. In fact, they couldn’t even always afford food every day. Ronald’s father spent time in jail and was killed by police as a suspect of a robbery. He was a physically abusive man. Ronald, his mother, grandmother, and three siblings rented a mud hut. Most of the time they lived on one meal a day. Ronald’s mother’s only income was selling cooked food in town.
Then our Christian non-profit, Giving Others Dignity (G.O.D.) was contacted by Pastor Pius Masikana of Calvary Victory Fellowship in Mumias, Kenya. Could we send the funds to put Ronald in high school? That was a big request. We would essentially be making a four year commitment. But we did what we always do, we prayed and took it to the Lord. The answer we got back was loving and strong, “Make this investment in Ronald.” And so we did. We knew God had a Perfect Plan for Ronald to grow and prosper. Ronald was doing his part. We joyfully became part of God’s Perfect Plan for Ronald. God Almighty did not disappoint. And Ronald did not disappoint either. He graduated from Maseno School and excelled with high marks on his National High School Exit Exams. We are so proud of the intelligent, loving, caring young man Ronald has become.
But the story is not over. Ronald requested that G.O.D. provide the funds for him to go to the TUM University in Mombasa, Kenya in September 2024. He wants to become an electrical engineer and give back to his family, church, and community. G.O.D. said, “Yes!” In fact, we consider it a great honor and blessing to be part of Ronald’s journey. We are very thankful for all those who have donated to G.O.D. It is because of you that this has and can continue to happen. We serve an amazing God.
Matthew 19:26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
I, Ronald Emmanuel Wanjala, want to poor out my heartfelt gratitude to Giving Others Dignity for supporting my education from one to four through Pastor Pius. When I did my final exams, I didn't see any way possible to further my education because of family poverty. You have stood as my parents though thousands of miles away. This makes me cry. You made my life comfortable, and I just forgot my background and focused on my academics. Though at times, I felt lonely, God was always there to wipe my tears. You removed the shame in my life. Pastor Pius encouraged me to work hard, and this gave me the morale I needed. Today, I stand with my head high. Because of G.O.D., I am sure never to let you down. As I look forward to join the university next month, I am focused on achieving high grades, and getting a job after. I trust I will be able to support my mother, wherever she will be, and my siblings in life. I also support God's work when he blesses me. I thank you so much, and humbly ask that you see me to the end of my studies and also others. I lack the words to say thank you, but praise God for bringing you into my life. May God bless you.
I want to thank the G.O.D organization for the great heart that you have for the disadvantaged people around the world. It was 4 years ago when I shared with you, Ronald's need after he did
exemplary in his Primary Education Exams, but lacked funds for his secondary education. I saw Ronald grow up in church, but when his father died, the family life collapsed . Ronald grew up
knowing God and respecting people in the community. When I shared his plight with Giving Others Dignity (G.O.D.), you accepted to support him through his entire high school taking care of every need. What seemed to be a dead end to his education was once revived and upon joining high school in 2020 he has shown interest to become a change agent in their family and community at large. Throughout his high school, Ronald showed a lot of respect. He never had any discipline issues though he had less interest in sports. He loved his classwork, always smart . He has grown form a child and now a teenager with a vision. After school he has shown
interest in doing community work and cleaning of the church. He is an encouragement to the church also. His hopes that had died have revived. I see a bright future for him as he pursues his degree in Medical Engineering. Looking at the job market, this is a course worth pursuing. I believe in him, that upon becoming self reliant, he will be able to support his family and siblings, contribute his skills to the church in it's entirety, and support his own family .
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and improve conditions. Your generous donation will fund our mission.
